Chelsea transfer news: Non-league Yasin Ben El-Mhanni handed Blues trial

Chelsea have handed a trial to talented young forward Yasin Ben El-Mhanni, nicknamed the “non-League Riyad Mahrez“.

The 20-year-old, who earlier this season featured for Lewes FC in the Ryman Premier League, has appeared in Nike commercials with the likes of Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo showcasing his skills, while he also made a name for himself on YouTube, firing a first-time shot into a bin suspended from a crossbar.

Now, as reported by the Daily Mail, the sensation was seen training alongside the likes of Diego Costa, Alexandre Pato and Radamel Falcao at Chelsea’s training ground on Wednesday, as the Blues stole a march on both Norwich City and leaders Leicester City who were also reportedly tracking his progress.

El-Mhanni, who’s had previous trials at West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace, is quite versatile in the final third, primarily playing on the left-wing, but he can also feature on the opposite flank and in attacking midfield.

As for Chelsea, they’ll be looking to continue their solid run in the Premier League under Guus Hiddink this weekend, as they’ve yet to lose with the Dutchman at the helm this term.

The Blues have scored 45 goals and conceded 41 in their 30 games, creating 327 chances and with an average pass accuracy of 83%.

They sit 10th on 41 points following their 2-2 draw with West Ham United prior to the international break, 10 adrift of Manchester City in fourth with just eight games remaining.

Next up for Chelsea is an away clash at manager-less Aston Villa on Saturday, who are rooted to the bottom on 16 points, 12 adrift of safety and near-certainties for relegation to the Championship.

Chelsea have a shot accuracy of 44% in the Premier League this season.
