Aston Villa have officially confirmed the signing of former Chelsea captain John Terry on a one-year deal.
Villa chairman and owner Tony Xia revealed that the Championship side had agreed terms with Terry on Monday morning and now the club have announced the transfer on their official website.
The club has also confirmed that the 36-year-old will wear the No.26 at Villa park.
Speaking to the club’s official website Terry said: “I am delighted to join Aston Villa.
“It’s a club I have admired from afar for many years – there are fantastic facilities at Bodymoor Heath, Villa Park is one of the finest stadiums in the country and there’s a good group of players here, with an experienced and successful manager in Steve Bruce.
“I can’t wait to get started now and look to help the squad achieve something special this season.”
Terry has ended 22 years of association with Chelsea this summer, leaving the club at the expiration of his contract over the weekend.
