Arsene Wenger confirms Aaron Ramsey “will be alright” to face Man Utd

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has declared that talismanic midfielder Aaron Ramsey “will be alright” to face Manchester United at Old Trafford this Sunday.

The 24-year-old has had an injury-hit season and made just 26 appearances in the Premier League, which has affected his ability to score goals as regularly as he did last season.

Aaron Ramsey: I would rather play in midfield than on the wing

The Wales international has hit the back of the net just six times in the top flight this season but he had already scored eight within the first 13 games of last season, showing a real decline in that department.

It was thought that he would be a doubt to face top four rivals Manchester United at the weekend, but Wenger – who will look to confirm Arsenal’s place in the top three with a win over the Red Devils – has confirmed that Ramsey should be fine to play at Old Trafford.

Arsenal are currently two points clear of fourth-placed United with a game in hand, so they could afford to lose at the Theatre of Dreams and win their final two games to seal a top three birth.

However, Wenger will be keen to wrap it up this weekend and secure the Gunners’ place in the Champions League group stages next season, avoiding a troublesome qualifying round in August.

Arsenal have scored 66 goals in the league this season, the third-most in the division and five more than Man Utd.
