Agent claims Arsenal target Eduardo Vargas is staying put

Eduardo Vargas’ agent has said that despite strong interest from Arsenal is client will not be leaving Napoli in the summer.

Vargas hasn’t had too good a time with Napoli and was sent out on loan to Gremio and Valencia. However he enjoyed a great World Cup with Chile, ably supporting Arsenal target Alexis Sanchez.

However, according to the Express, his agent Cristian Ogalde has said that Napoli have been so impressed by Vargas’ performances that they want to give him  a proper chance in pre-season.

“I spoke with Napoli on Tuesday,” Ogalde said.

“And the contract with them is still in force.

“They consider him an important part of the squad, and are looking forward to him starting pre-season.

“They told me that they were delighted with Eduardo at the World Cup.

“Mazzarri didn’t really like him, but with Benitez it’s a different story.”

Arsenal finished fourth in the Premier League last season and will have to go through a play off in order to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League.

With their Premier League rivals strengthening all the time Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he is keen to improve his squad in order to keep fighting on more than one front.

Napoli enjoyed a good season in Serie A last season, finishing third but they were still some way off eventual champions Juventus and will be keen to build a squad capable of challenging for  the title.


Eduardo Vargas scored one goal and registered two assists with Chile at the World Cup.
