Boufal has attracted huge interest over the past few months and it seems that the two London rivals will go head-to-head for his signature along with the Saints, who have just sold Sadio Mane to Liverpool for over £30million.
The 22-year-old midfielder enjoyed a storming season with Lille in Ligue 1 this year as he created 69 chances – the most in the squad – and finished the campaign as the club’s top scorer after finding the back of the net 11 times in 29 appearances.
Interest in Boufal has increased in recent weeks and Ed Aarons of the Guardian is now reporting that Boufal’s agent will be holding talks this week with all three Premier League sides.
Boufal was one of the stand-out stars during the 2015/16 campaign in France as he was not only Lille’s chief creator and main source for goals, but he also completed 124 take-ons – the second highest across the entire league.
Lille’s No.11 only trailed former Newcastle United and Hull City winger, Hatem Ben Arfa, who completed 149 take-ons for Nice.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is thought to be determined on spending big this summer as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season, but he faces competition from the Blues’ new manager Antonio Conte, who has the spending power at Stamford Bridge to compete with anyone in the transfer market.
