Ajax completed the signing of Brazilian youngster David Neres from Sao Paulo on deadline day for a reported £10m.
The 19-year-old winger signs a four-and-a-half-year keeping him in Amsterdam until June 2021.
Neres, a Brazil under-20 international, is the only transfer the 33-time Dutch champions made this winter with him replacing the departed Anwar El Ghazi who left for Lille on the same day as his transfer was announced.
A graduate of Sao Paulo’s esteemed academy, Neres leaves the South American giants having made eight first team appearances and scoring three goals.
He joins an Ajax side currently second in the Eredivisie five points behind leaders Feyenoord who they play later in the year.
Ajax also remain involved in European competition having qualified for the Europa League round of 32 unbeaten.
The Amsterdammers won four of their six group matches including an incredible 3-2 win over Celta Vigo at the Amsterdam ArenA in November.
Next up for Peter Bosz’s men is a trip to Roda JC on Sunday.
