A Zlatan in New York? Swedish hockey player teases football fans with wind-up transfer scoop

Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic appears to have disclosed red-hot details on his next transfer move to a Swedish hockey player in New York.

Either that, or Johan Franzen, of the Detroit Red Wings, ran into a Zlatan lookalike and took the opportunity to engineer a wind-up on social media.

In New York for Saturday’s season finale against the New York Rangers, Franzen spotted an Ibrahimovic doppelganger and decided to pose with the pony-tail and goatee-sporting man before sharing the photo and alleged transfer scoop on Instagram.

Franzen, 36, whose Red Wings were beaten at Madison Square Gardens on Saturday, appears clued up on his football news, at least, and aware Ibrahimovic is set to leave the Parc des Princes at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Ibrahimovic has been linked with several moves to high-profile Premier League clubs, but it has been claimed that he wants £600,000 per week to play in England in what could be his final season in European football.

The Sweden international is now 34 years old but has shown no signs of slowing down in Ligue 1 this term, scoring 30 goals for Laurent Blanc’s team, who have now won four consecutive titles in that division.

An MLS move had been suggested but the players himself appears minded to gun for another year at the top level of competitive football.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has made 11 assists in Ligue 1 this season.
